Welcome to Medical Nanotechnologies

Medical Nanotechnologies, Inc. (MedNanoTech) is revolutionizing the way cancer is treated by developing nanoparticle-based therapies and drug delivery systems to enhance targeted therapies and to combat metastasis.

We also provide contract research services for Research Use Only applications that require nanoparticle purification, analysis, and modification.

Expertise

MedNanoTech has expertise in the following:

  • performing nanoparticle conjugation
  • determining nanoparticle size and composition
  • evaluating toxicity of nanoparticles and nanoparticle conjugates
  • analyzing the subcellular activity of nanoparticles and their conjugates

Emerging Products

Our primary products lines are non-invasive, localized hyperthermic therapies for cancer patients with solid tumors.

How do we achieve this?

Our core platform is based on nanoparticles which can be delivered to the tumor, engulfed by targeted cancer cells, and irradiated by near-infrared (NIR) light. Upon NIR irradiation, the nanoparticles rapidly heat up. Depending on the amount of heat generated, which can be controlled, this rapid, localized heat enhances delivery of therapeutic agents such as DNA, proteins, and chemotherapies and, at higher temperature, directly kills the targeted tumor cells.

The result is a cancer-targeting approach which lowers the typical amount of drug required for treatment and eradicates the tumor while minimizing damage to normal cells.

Applications

MedNanoTech is focused on developing applications that use the unique physicochemical properties of carbon nanoparticles.

Our current efforts in application development include:

  • Targeted hyperthermia for breast and other cancers
  • Nanoparticle-mediated thermal release of drug payloads
  • Development of test protocols for evaluating the toxicity of carbon nanotubes
  • Development of protocols for nanoparticle conjugates
  • The study of nanoparticle interactions with mammalian cells
